Can anyone describe what the pain of arthritis presents itself like. Is it throbbing, stabbing, dull, burning what? Is it felt in all joints or should it localise to affected area. Can it be tender to the touch? Do you feel it in the fleshy parts of your body? Is the onset sudden all over the body or not?
I have had 1 hip replaced and the other is badly affected along with both knees and left hand, on damp days the pain is a dull/stabbing persistent throbbing ache, pressure is unbearable, I try to keep mobile but some days it’s impossible, I am never completely pain free, I personally don’t feel it in fleshy parts, just joints, at the moment the worst pain is in my left index finger, I can actually see it swelling as I type. Warm wax and warm water help for a while. I can’t take ani-inflammatory tablets and the pain killers that work (Tramadol) are addictive. Whinge over, Happy Easter
For me it’s just extremely irritating and distracting. I wish I had the strength to just knock it out of my system.

you feel it in your joints and it can be very localised and it comes with the onset of age. i have it in my right hand knuckle joints and yet nowhere else. possibly it will spread to other areas but then i havnt reached that point yet so i am not sure.

The throbbing, stabbing, dull and burning pain is the sort you feel when you have rhuematoid arthritis - RA. The pain is VERY acute and mainly in the joints of your hands and feet and they can be red, hot and swollen. Yes the joints are very tender and painful to touch. This condition is onset all of sudden but usually in the hands and feet only. Pain in the ‘fleshy’ parts - usually the muscle area is more likely to be fibromyalgia.
Hope this helps!
